The Elphinstone Theatre situated at Maradana Colombo 10 has been inaugurated in 1925 and hence the second oldest Theatre Hall in Sri Lanka .It has recently been refurbished at a colossal cost to provide better amenities and service for enthusiasts. Elphinstone has a seating capacity of 913 in an air conditioned atmosphere .Also the theatre has facilities for film shows as well.
This too has a separate cafeteria providing snacks and beverages.

Lionel Edirisinghe Centre for Perfoming Arts – at Elphinstone Theatre, Maradana |

This Performing Arts centre has been inaugurated in memory of the late veteran Musician Lionel Edirisinghe and is housed at 'Sarasavipaya' Maradana .There are approximately 3000 students both male and female learning dance, drama and music under distinguished teachers. The Lionel Edirisinghe centre is the authorized Examination centre in Sri lanka to hold exams of the Bhathkande Vidyapith Lucknow, India. There are several rehearsal halls and five training halls within the confines of this performing arts centre. Musical Instruments are provided free of charge to the students for these classes. Also for the convenience of the public and students, a sales point for musical instruments, books and stationery is available at this centre. |
