The 10th Diploma Awarding Ceremony of Tower School of Drama & Theatre (Sinhala Medium) took place on the 15th of December at the Sausiripaya Auditorium, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07. The prestigious event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senavi, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
The two-year full-time diploma course, which covers Levels 3 and 4 of the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF), culminated in a ceremony celebrating the achievements of the students. A total of 52 students were awarded diplomas for successfully completing the course.
The Keynote Address, titled "The Social Role of the Drama & Theatre Teacher," was delivered by Professor Tuder Weerasinghe, from the Faculty of Mass Media at the University of Colombo. His insightful speech highlighted the significant role of drama and theatre teachers in shaping the cultural landscape of Sri Lanka.
The ceremony also recognized outstanding achievers, with four students receiving special medals and Rs. 50,000 each as scholarships for pursuing the Bachelor of Education honours in Drama and Theatre at The Open University of Sri Lanka.

Among the exceptional students Rajapaksha Pathirannehelage Madara Piyumali Amindika Rajapaksha, who earned the highest marks across all subjects during the two-year course. As a result, she was honored with the Tower Hall Theatre Foundation Award, along with a cash prize of Rs. 55,000 to support her university education.
This ceremony was held with the participation of Mrs. D.V.M. De Silva, the Dean of the Education Faculty, Head of the Department ( Secondary and Tertiary Education ) of the Education Faculty Pro. M.F.Nawasdeen, Dr. Ayomi Irugalbandara the Coordinator of Bachelor of Education honours in Drama and Theatre, at The Open University of Sri Lanka, academic staff of the Drama & Theatre School, parents of the diploma holders, past students, and well-wishers.
