Rukmani Devi Centre was been inaugurated in October ,1980 in memory of late Rukmani Devi as a gesture of acknowledgement of the request of her native community This Centre is situated about 40 k.m. away from Colombo –at her place of birth, Negombo.

Christians of this area have nurtured and nourished 'Pasku' Dramas for generations .Hence, special pasku programmes ,pasku workshop s, etc. are being organized at this centre. Commemorative ceremonies are held annually restructuring the memoirs of the late singstress and the actress who contributed immensely to the Performing Arts and is an inspiration to the present generation of performers. In the commemorative museum, various costumes, and ornaments worn by her and selected photographs of her roles in the films are preserved. Special arrangements have been made in a well equipped studio to listen to songs sung by her which still linger in our memory.

Training classes for music and dance are also conducted daily and weekends by competent teachers.The centre under the patronage of THTF grants 50 Scholarships each of a monthly value of Rs. 250/= for talented students in Negombo area.

Rukmani Devi Centre provides seating accommodation for 500 personnel and it could be reserved for staging dramas concerts, exhibitions and even for Social functions at reasonable charges.
